At approximately 9:00 am on Monday 20 January 2014, Israeli gunboats opened fire at Palestinian fishing boats which were in the sea north and west Al Waha area-near the maritime borders- west of Beit Lahiya in North Gaza district.
Israeli rubber gunboats surrounded a small Palestinian boat and ordered two fishermen who were on its board to take off their clothes and swim toward one of the Israeli gunboats.

.
According to Al Mezan’s field investigation, the boat was in an area which is 3 nautical miles away from the beach and 200 meters away to the south from the illuminated buoys (the buoys form a line demarcating the no-go zone for Palestinian fishermen) north of Al Waha area northwest of Biet Lahiya.
The boat was in the Israeli allowed fishing zone.
The owner of the boat is Ra’ed Salah Roshdi Abu Warda.
The two fishermen were released from Erez crossing at approximately 12:00 am on Tuesday 21 January 2014, but their boat was confiscated with 8 pieces of fishing nets.
