At approximately 6:40 am On Friday 22 March 2013, seven children sustained different injuries when unidentified object exploded while they were playing with in As-Salam neighborhood in Rafah. According to police investigation, three children, Anwar Awad Ash-Sha’er, 7, Abdel Rahman Ameen Ash- Sha’er, 6, and Awad Jalal Ash- Sha’er, 15, sustained moderate injuries and were admitted to Abu Yousif An-l Najjar Hospital in Rafah. Abdel Rahman Yousif Qeshta, 9, Mahmoud Awad Ash- Sha’er, 8, Mahmoud Ameen Ash-Sha’er, 5, and Ahmad Jehad Salim Ash- Sha’er, 8, sustained serious injuries and were admitted to the European Gaza Hospital in Khan Younis.
