At approximately 6:00 am on Tuesday 20 March 2012, Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) arrested two young Palestinian men as they tried to sneak across the separation fence between the Gaza Strip and Israel.
Al Mezan has identified the two as Mohammed Fayiz Ghazi ‘Afana, 18, and Shehda Salah Obeid, 19.
Both are residents of An-Nuseirat refugee camp.
In their affidavits to Al Mezan, the detainees’ relatives stated that the two men had left their homes and informed their friends of their intent to sneak across the eastern separation fence between the Gaza Strip and Israel.
‘Afana later called his family and told them he had been detained in Israel.
Al Mezan’s lawyer followed up on the case and was able to confirm that Obeid is being held in Beersheba prison.
