10am on Monday 1 February 2010, the Gaza Government Public Investigations Police phoned Saber Hasan Az-Za'anin and summoned him to report at their office in the Biet Hanoun police station.
According to the testimony given to Al Mezan Centre for Human Rights by Az-Za'anin, the Public Investigation Police detained and interrogated him for his activities with the National Initiative.

7pm on the same day, he was released, but after signing documents committing him to ‘respect the Gaza Government and the law,’ and not to ‘practice in any activities related to the National Initiative’ in Beit Hanoun, according to his testimony.
