On 12 March 2007, at app. 6.30am, gunmen kidnapped Captain Jamil Zanati and solider Ahmad Rezq in east Jabalia and were set free later. According to field information, at app. 10.20am on the same day, gunmen linked to Hamas opened fire at a security patrol while driving down Salah Eddine St. in east Beit Lahia, the security officers fired back for few minutes. No casualties were reported.
