The Gaza Strip Bakeries continue to close their doors in front of consumers for the second consecutive day.
In the early hours of Wednesday 26 March 2008, around 38 main bakeries in the Gaza Strip have stopped operating as the prices of flour have risen while the Deposed Government determines stability of the price of bread at 8 NIS for each pack.
According to Al Mezan's Field information, the price of the flour sack has reached 130 NIS after it was 90 NIS in mid 2007.
The owners of bakeries demand the government to raise the price of the pack of bread, bring down the price of flour or to reconsider the rate of taxes and fees levied from them.
