On 1 April 2008, at 4.30 am, an IOF special unit penetrated 1.5 km deep into the eastern area of Deir Al Balah, and opened random fire towards the area, killing Abdullah 24-year-old Ahmed Allouh, and 24-year-old Yehia Hasan Barak, and injuring a third who was reported to have sustained moderate injuries. The IOF withdrew from the area at app. 5am on the same day after detaining 13 citizens.
