An Israeli naval gunboat opened fire on a large Palestinian fishing boat at around 17:15 on Wednesday, 10 September 2008.
The fishing boat (20 meters in length and 8 meters in width) is owned by Rajab Muhammad Abdelmenem al-Hissi.
The gunship deliberately hit its rear side before opening fire in mid-sea nearly 6 nautical miles opposite to Gaza seaport.
The fishing boat was badly damaged but no casualties were reported.
Seven fishermen of al-Hissi family were on board.
They were intimidated and could not jump into the deep water.
They stayed on board risking their boat might sink until four Palestinian boats arrived to rescue them.
They towed the damaged fishing boat towards Gaza seaport.
The incident comes under the Israeli escalation against the Palestinian fishermen.
