At approximately 5:30pm on Monday, 25 April 2022, an altercation erupted between a number of Khan Younis municipal employees, with municipal police, and street vendors, near al-Suniyya Street in the middle of Khan Younis City. Two persons were arrested.
Al Mezan regrets the recurrence of such events, which in this case resulted in the injury of a policeman and a number of civilians, and calls on the Public Prosecution to investigate the incident. Al Mezan emphasizes that law enforcement officials must uphold the rule of law, ensure that force is only used when strictly necessary, and must respect, protect and fulfill citizens’ rights.
