Al Mezan Congratulates Shawan Jabarin on his Re-election as Secretary-General of FIDH

Al Mezan Center for Human Rights congratulates Mr. Shawan Jabarin, General Director of Al Haq, on his election for the second time as one of five Secretaries-General serving on the International Board of the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH). Jabarin’s election comes in recognition of the valuable contributions of Palestinian human rights defenders to the global human rights movement. Al Mezan wishes Mr. Jabarin and all members of the newly-elected International Board success in strengthening the role of FIDH in defending human rights and human rights defenders around the world. 

The new International Board was elected in conclusion of FIDH 40th congress held in held in Taipei, Taiwan, between 21st and 25th October under the motto ‘our rights, our fight, our future’. The congress brought together over a hundred human rights organizations, including Al Mezan, to discuss challenges facing human rights and human rights defenders.

FIDH is an international human rights NGO federating 184 organizations from 112 countries. Since 1922, FIDH has been defending all civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights as set out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
