On Sunday 27 May 2012, the Al Mezan Center for Human Rights organized an educational workshop titled “Juvenile Justice under National Law and International Conventions,” held at the Youths without Borders center in Khuza’ village in Khan Younis district.
Mr.
Osama Qdeeh, a board member of the youth center, opened the workshop by thanking Al Mezan for its efforts to foster a culture of human rights in Gaza.
Layal Qdeeh, a project lawyer, then led the workshop, starting with a brief description of Al Mezan’s work and its activities aiming to promote human rights culture.
She expressed her hope that the workshop would meet the participants’ expectations and contribute to developing their knowledge in the field of juvenile justice.
The participants were introduced to various topics related to juvenile justice, the situation of children in conflict with the law, and their protection under national and international laws.
The workshop lasted for about two hours.
This workshop constitutes one component of the “Enhancing Legal Aid for Victims of Human Rights Violations in the Gaza Strip” project, implemented by Al Mezan with support from the United Nations Development Program - Program of Assistance to the Palestinian People (UNDP/PAPP, Rule of Law Program).
