Short Link:
The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) fired missiles on two metal workshops in the Gaza Strip, injuring 6 Palestinian civilians.
Separately, the IOF also continued to bulldoze farmland east of the town of Beit Hanoun and to tighten the siege on the town.
A total of 7 Palestinians have been killed and 90 wounded in the incursion that started five days ago.
55 children below the age of 18 are amongst the injured.
The attacks on the metal workshops took place on 4 July 2004.
The first workshop that was destroyed was owned by Saber Jamil Al Habibi, in southern Jabalia Refugee Camp.
Six civilians were wounded, and a nearby bus was severely damaged at the occasion of the attack.
At approximately 11:40 pm, on the same day, helicopters fired four missiles on another metal workshop owned by Ashraf Mohammad Lulu, also destroying it completely.
The IOF also tightened the siege on the town of Beit Hanoun imposed six days ago.
Civilians consequently continue to be denied access in or out of the town.
Armored bulldozers have leveled large areas of agricultural land.
Moreover, in its excessive use of force, the IOF killed 7 Palestinians since the start of their incursion into the town on 29 June 2004.
Today, Adnan Hasan Mansour, a 19-year-old from the middle the Gaza Strip was killed as he visited relatives in the nearby Tal az-Za'tar neighborhood.
The IOF spokesperson claimed that Mansour was riding a bulldozer when he was killed.
According to an affidavit given to Al Mezan by an ambulance driver, who was present at the scene, Mansour and others were watching Israeli tanks at the opposite side of the town's entrance when they fired at him; no bulldozers were in the area.
Al Mezan is gravely concerned by the escalation of the IOF aggression against Palestinian civilians in the OPT, and emphasizes that their practices constitute grave breaches to International Humanitarian Law, and especially to the 4th Geneva Convention.
The Center's documentation shows the deliberate targeting of Palestinians by the IOF without necessity and without respecting the international principle of proportionality in the use of force.
As such, the Center calls upon the international community to immediately intervene and put an end to the Israeli violations, and protect the Palestinian civilians in the OPT.
