In addition to the continual closures on the Gaza Strip, a critical escalation of the enduring aggression inflicted by the Israeli Occupation Forces on the Gaza Strip resulted in two Palestinians killed and five bystanders injured.
According to Al Mezan field workers, on November 1st at approximately 4pm, an Israeli monitoring airplane fired a missile at a white jeep at Falluji crossing near Shadia Abu Ghazala School in Jabalia Camp.
The car was completely destroyed during the strike and two Palestinians were killed: Hassan Atiya Al Madhoun, aged 33 and Fawzi Mohammed Shuhada Abu Al Qar, aged 36, both residents of Jabalia Camp.
In addition to these killings, five civilians were injured, among whom was a child of 8 years.
This strike constitutes one more crime in the line of IOF premeditated killings, arbitrary shelling and tightening of the siege imposed on all Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip.
These crimes fall under the policy of collective punishment conducted recurrently by the IOF since the beginning of the second Intifada in September 2000.
Al Mezan condemns this ongoing offensive and emphasizes that these measures of extra- judicial assassinations and sustained collective punishment, imposition of closures, tightening of siege and rising aggression against civilians all constitute war crimes that are in strict violation of the principles of International Law, in particular the Fourth Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War.
Therefore, Al Mezan Center calls upon the International Community, notably the High Contracting Parties to the Fourth Geneva Convention, to assume their legal and ethical responsibilities and intervene immediately to put an end to these Israeli war crimes, and provide protection to civilians at a crucial time of escalating hostility and IOF war crimes against Palestinian civilians in the OPT.
