Israeli Gunboats Open Fire at Palestinian Fishing Boat West Al Waha Area and Arrest Two Fishermen

At approximately 6:30 am on Sunday, 30 April 2017, Israeli gunboats opened fire at Palestinian fishing boats that were in the Gaza sea west Al Waha area northwest Beit Lahyia in North Gaza district.

According to Al Mezan’s field investigations, the Israeli boats surrounded a small fishing boat that was about 2.5 nautical miles away from the coast. The Israeli forces arrested two fishermen on the board and confiscated the boat. Al Mezan identified the fishermen arrested as follows:

  • Sha’ban Adnan Abu Riyala, 36; and
  • Mohammed Adnan Abu Riyala, 22.
