IOF Arrests Five Fishermen and Confiscates their Boat Western Beit Lahiya

At approximately 7:00 am on Friday, 12 August 2016, Israeli gunboats opened fire on Palestinian fishing boats that were in the Gaza sea west of Al Sudaniya, northwest of the North Gaza district. The Israeli gunboats surrounded a small fishing boat and ordered five fishermen onboard to take off their clothes and to swim to the Israeli boat. The IOF arrested them and took them to an unknown destination and confiscated their boat. The boat is owned by Ahmed Saed Bakr, 21. Al Mezan identified the arrested fishermen as follows:

  • Saed Juma’ Bakr, 47;
  • Mahmoud Saed Bakr, 18;
  • Ibrahim Saed Bakr, 16;
  • Yaser Naser Bakr, 24; and
  • Ahmed Mahmoud Al Louh, 20.

 

At approximately 5:00 pm on the same day, the IOF released the fishermen at Erez crossing and kept their boat in custody.
