Gunfire Celebrating the Release of Palestinian Prisoners in Rafah Injures One Person

At approximately 8:00 pm on Sunday 18 December 2011, Ismail Mohammed Al Buhdari, 21, sustained a bullet wound in the right thigh while he was at the Ar-Rjelat family diwan,[1] near Mashrou’ Ammer street in Rafah.
 Al Buhdari was injured by gunfire celebrating the release of Palestinian detainees in the prisoner swap deal.
  He was admitted to Abu Yousif An-Najjar Hospital, where his injury was described as moderate.

[1] A diwan is a special room or house designated for family gatherings, celebrations, and arbitration between families.
  Most extended families in Gaza have a diwan.
