At approximately 12:40 pm on Monday 12 September 2011, medical sources at Abu Yousif An-Najjar Hospital announced the admission of Bashir Anwar ‘AwadAl-Gheiada, 11, a resident of As-Salam neighborhood in Rafah.
The boy was admitted complaining of a pain in his head.
His X-ray showed that he had a bullet lodged in his head.
He was referred to the European Gaza Hospital due to his critical health condition.
According to Al Mezan’s field investigations, at approximately 2:30 pm on Saturday 10 September 2011, Bashir had previously been admitted to Shuhadaa Rafah Health Center in Rafah after sustaining an injury from a blow to the head while he was at UNRWA B Primary School.
He had received a couple of stitches.
At the time, it was unclear to doctors that Al Gheiadahad sustained a bullet wound in the head.
Later, the school administration called his father to take him home.
The boy’s health condition deteriorated until his father admitted him to Abu Yousif An-Najjar Hospital, where doctors found the bullet.
The police have opened an investigation into the incident.
