1 May 2011

At approximately 10:30am on Sunday 1 May 2011, a force from the police investigation department dispersed a peaceful assembly for the Palestinian General Federation of Trade Union (PGFTU) opposite the UNRWA office in Khan Younis refugee camp.
About 200 persons participated in the assembly.
The assembly was organized to mark International Workers' Day.
In his affidavit to Al Mezan, one of the PGFTU members said that a force from the police investigation department arrived at the place of the assembly and ordered two of the organizers of the assembly to disperse and to present themselves at the police station in Khan Younis.
The two organizers went to the police station.
They were interrogated about organizing a peaceful assembly without prior permission from the Ministry of Interior.
Later on the same day, the police released them.
