10pm on Saturday 6 February 2010, the Al-'Utla family were admitted to Kamal Odwan Hospital in North Gaza District.
Their condition was critical due to inhaling the smoke of an electricity generator they used in their house in Jabalia town.
The father As'ad Al 'Utla, 37; his wife, Fayiza Al 'Utla, 30; and their four children Mohammed, 11; Thekra, 7; Mahmoud, 3; and Hanin, 8 months were exposed to suffocation by the generator’s smoke.
Medical sources told Al Mezan that their condition stabilized at hospital.
Tens of thousands of families in the Gaza Strip use electricity generators due to the continuous electricity outages, which result from Israeli restrictions on industrial fuel supplies needed for Gaza’s power plant.
