Israel Denies UN Expert's Access to OPT

Yesterday, Sunday 14 December 2008, Israel refused to allow Professor Richard Falk, the UN Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in the occupied Palestinian territory, was refused entry.
He arrived at the airport, and was excluded and detained overnight and left today morning back to Switzerland.
Professor Falk was scheduled to visit the OPT for one week starting tomorrow.
The special rapporteur's visits usually involve an assessment of the human rights situation in the OPT and reporting to the UN Human Rights Council and/or the UN General Assembly.
