24 June 2012

The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) have escalated their attacks on the Gaza Strip after a ceasefire that did not last for more than 24 hours.
Israeli aircraft have attacked several locations and targeted people in Gaza City and North Gaza district.

Nine other people were injured, including a woman; the injuries of two were described as critical.
The driver of the motorcycle managed to escape.

At approximately 4:30 pm on Friday 22 June 2012, Israeli aircraft fired at least one missile at a group of Palestinian resistance fighters in an agricultural field about 1,200 meters away from the eastern separation fence between the Gaza Strip and Israel.
As a result, Ismail Abdullah Hasan Ahmed, 30, was killed, and another two persons sustained moderate injuries.
At approximately 1:15 pm on Saturday 23 June 2012, an Israeli aircraft fired a missile targeting a young man in the Qlebou area east of Beit Lahiya in North Gaza district.
As a result, Khalid Naseer Ad-Din Al Bura’i, 23, was killed on the spot.
He was from Jabaliya refugee camp.
At approximately 11:00 pm on Saturday 23 June 2012, an Israeli aircraft fired a missile at a white Peugeot car travelling opposite the Abu Jebba petroleum station on Salah Ad-Din street in the Az-Zaitoun neighborhood of eastern Gaza City.
The missile struck near the car.
The driver managed to escape, though the car sustained physical damages.
At approximately 2:15 am on the same day, an Israeli aircraft fired a missile at a military training site for one of the Palestinian resistance factions southwest of Deir Al Balah.
The site was severely damaged and six adjacent houses belonging to the Baraka family were partially damaged.
Three persons, including a woman, were injured inside their home by windowpanes shattered in the explosion.
Al Mezan has identified the injured as: Tahreer ‘Awad Allah Baraka, 31, sustained bone fractures in the back and left shoulder; Ahmed Hammad Ahmed Baraka, 26, sustained injuries in the left hand and face; and Hasan ‘Awad Allah Baraka, 25, sustained injury in the ear and nose.
Two cars were also damaged in the attack.
At approximately 2:10 am on Saturday 23 June 2012, an Israeli aircraft fired a missile at the southern part of the former as-Saraya security compound in Gaza City.
Ten people sustained light to moderate injuries.
Al Mezan has identified four of those injured as:   Iyad Ibrahim Qasem, 21; Mahmoud Iyad Qasem, 21; Safout Jameel Abu Sha’ban, 62; and Mohammed Mansour Al Louh, 20.
Windowpanes of an adjacent mosque and houses were shattered as well.
At approximately 2:05 am on the same day, an Israeli aircraft fired a missile at a military training site for one of the Palestinian resistance factions located in eastern Jabaliya refugee camp in North Gaza district.
As a result, eight residents of adjacent houses were injured, including a child and a woman.
Al Mezan has identified them as:   Rebhi Hasan Lubbad, 56; His wife Hanya Mohammed Lubbad, 53; Her son Saalam, 21; Waheed Ali Ayoub Saleh, 48; His son Ali, 16; Nasser Mohammed Al Ghawanma, 19; Abdel Haleem Mohammed Al Helou, 56; and Ahmed Majed Ashembari, 28.
The site was severely damaged and five adjacent houses were partially damaged.
At approximately 11:20 pm on Friday 22 June 2012, an Israeli aircraft fired a missile at a group of Palestinian resistance fighters who where near the beach in the ‘Anan area of the Amer housing project in western Jabaliya, North Gaza district.
As a result, three persons were injured.
Medical sources at Ash-Shifa Hospital described the injuries of one as critical, and an hour later announced the death of Humam Kamal Sa’eed Abu Qadous, 20, from Ash-Sheikh Redwan neighborhood.
Al Mezan Center for Human Rights strongly condemns the Israeli escalation.
It asserts that the IOF attacks on empty training sites and destroyed structures are simply Israeli attempts to harm civilian residents or properties.
Israel’s aerial attacks on particular individuals while they are walking in populated area demonstrates its disregard for Palestinian lives.
The IOF undertakes no procedures to prevent injury to passersby, as in the case of the pedestrian Osama Ali, who was killed alongside nine others injured.
Therefore, Al Mezan calls on the international community to promptly intervene to end the Israeli aggression, to put principles of accountability into effect, and to bring those who ordered or committed war crimes to justice.
Al Mezan asserts that the international community’s grant of immunity has encouraged Israel to commit further war crimes against Palestinians.
