According to Al Mezan’s field investigations, at approximately 3:15 am on Tuesday 7 February 2012, unknown persons detonated an explosive device at the door of Al Kamal Men’s Clothing Showroom, a store owned by Zuhair Hasan Yousif Redwan, 55, located near Al Awda mosque in the Jabaliya refugee camp market in North Gaza district.
As a result, the store, the owner’s house, a sewing shop, and a furniture store sustained severe physical damage.
Another three adjacent shops and three nearby houses sustained light damages.
The explosion took place in a densely populated area.
The sound of the explosion was extremely loud and people in the area were terrified, particularly children.
In a separate incident, at approximately 10:15 pm on Monday 6 February 2012, two armed men opened fire at Yousif Mahdi Mesbah Abu Obeid, 20, and Othman Mohammed Hasan Mansour, 38, as they were near the Al Amal Center for the Handicapped in the Yebna neighborhood of southern Rafah.

Medical sources at Abu Yousif An-Najjar Hospital described his injury as critical.

Al Mezan strongly condemns attacks on the security of people and their property.
Al Mezan calls for investigation of the two incidents and fears repetition of such acts in the future.
These incidents call to mind the security instability and misuse of weapons and small arms that was common in the Gaza Strip in previous years.
