At 11:00 am on Tuesday, 4 February 2020, Israeli navy opened fire and used water cannons against Palestinian fishermen sailing within six nautical miles off the northwestern coast of Rafah. This caused one of the boats to capsize and the fishermen who had been aboard were rescued by other fishermen nearby. The fishermen aboard were: Yehya Abdullah Absi, 26, and his brothers Ali and Nimer, aged 28 and 27, respectively; in addition to Ahmed Abdulhamid Hijjo, 24. All four of them are Gaza residents. The incident resulted in serious damage to the boat’s engine and fishing equipment, but the fishermen did not sustain any injury.
