At around 16:50 on Friday, 8 November 2019, Israeli forces stationed along the separation fence to the east of Rafah fired live rounds, rubber-coated bullets, and tear gas canisters at groups of young men, children and women who were participating the Great March of Return demonstrations. As a result, 48 were injured: 16 from live fire; 24 were wounded by rubber-coated bullets; five were hit directly by tear gas canisters; and three suffered from tear gas inhalation. The injuries included 14 children—five of whom were injured by gunshots and shrapnel, one was injured by rubber coated bullets, and another one was directly hit by a tear gas canister.
