27 Palestinian Protesters, 11 of them Children, Injured in Israeli Forces’ Shooting in North Gaza

At 5pm on Wednesday, 3 October 2018, Israeli forces used live ammunition and tear gas canisters on hundreds of Palestinians joining the Great Return March demonstration near Erez crossing in northern Beit Hanoun city in North Gaza district. 27 protesters, including 11 children, were injured in Israeli forces’ shooting. Doctors at the Indonesia and Al-Awda hospitals stated casualties ranged in severity from moderate to critical. Four of the injured were wounded by live fire in different parts of their bodies. 18 were directly hit by tear gas canisters while five suffered from major breathing difficulties due to Israeli forces’ heavy use of tear gas. Other protesters who suffered from breathing difficulties received the necessary treatment by field-based medical teams. The Israeli forces continued shooting until the evening of the same day.
