At 8:30pm on Sunday, 23 September 2018, Israeli forces located near the fence in southeast Burij refugee camp used live ammunition and tear gas canisters on demonstrators joining the Great Return March protest in east Burij. Five demonstrators were injured, including one child. Three of them sustained wounds by live ammunition, and the other two, the child one of them, suffered from major breathing difficulties due to Israeli forces’ heavy use of tear gas. The five casualties were taken to Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir Al Balah to receive the necessary treatment.
