At 3:05pm on Monday, 24 September 2018, Atef Talal Abu Seif, 45-year-old spokesperson of Fatah, and Mohammed Riyad Aqel, 30-year-old citizen, were beaten while in Al Naser street in North Gaza district. Documentation by Al Mezan Center for Human Rights shows that Abu Seif had been driving his Skoda-brand car back to his house in Al-Saftawi area in North Gaza along with Aqel. On the way, near Badri and Hania company office in the district, they were stopped by a two persons on a motorcycle, who forced the former to stop. Two cars also followed the motorcycle and carried 10 persons who were bare-faced, civilian-dressed, and armed with sticks and batons—some with guns. The 12 persons circulated Abu Seif’s car and attacked the two men while in the car. Both were hit in the head and suffered from bruises, with Abu Seif sustaining a number of wounds. The attack lasted for ten minutes before the assailants left away. The police have launched investigation into the incident.
