At 4pm on Friday, 29 June 2018, Israeli forces located on the security fence near Malaka area in east Al Zaitoun neighborhood in east Gaza city used live ammunition and fired tear-gas canisters against tens of Palestinians who joined the Great Return March demonstration in the area. 29 demonstrators were injured, including six children. Of these casualties, 23 sustained wounds by live fire. Doctors at Al Shifa Hospital assessed casualties to range in severity from light to moderate. Israeli shooting continued until 7:30pm on the same day.
