At 2pm on Friday, 20 April 2018, Israeli forces located on the eastern borders of Rafah opened fire and launched tear-gas grenades at Palestinian children, youth and women joining the “Great Return March” demonstration in eastern Rafah. 108 demonstrators, including 27 children, were injured in Israeli shooting—24 by live fire, 72 by gas inhalation, 11 by shrapnel, and one by a tear-gas grenade. Medical sources have reported that four of these casualties are in critical medical condition. Mohammed Qandeel, a 29-year old freelance journalist, suffered from gas inhalation. Also, three paramedics, all working for Abu Yousef Al Najjar Hospital, suffered from gas inhalation, and they are: Naser Abu Helal, 51; Mohammed Duhair, 26; and Ahmed Duhair, 26.
