On Thursday, 5 April 2018, Israeli forces located on the eastern borders near Malaka area in the east of Al Zaytoun neighborhood in eastern Gaza city opened fire and launched tear-gas grenades at tens of protesters who gathered near the separation borders to reaffirm their right of return to return to their homes from which they were expelled in 1948 and 1967. Five demonstrators, including a child, were injured, two by live fire, two by tear-gas canisters, and one by inhaling tear gas. Medical sources at Al Shifa hospital assessed the injuries to range from slight to moderate. Israeli shooting continued until the evening.
