On Thursday, 29 March 2018, Israeli forced took to detention both Ali Abu Hamad, 19, and Foad Hammad, 19, while they were trying to cross the border fence in eastern Rafah. According to information provided by their families, Ali and Foad both said they would be joining the Great Return March demonstrations in the east of Rafah. Al Mezan Center for Human Rights conducted follow-up with the Israeli Prison Service and was informed on Sunday, 8 April 2018, that both were detained in Ashkelon prison.
