At 3:00pm on Saturday, 24 March 2018, Bassam Shehda Al Shaarawi, 49-year old resident of Gaza city, was taken to Shuhada Al Aqsa hospital after he was injured in shooting by one of two individuals on a motorcycle. At 2:30, according to police reports and eye-witnesses, the shooter was on a motorcycle with another person when he fired at Al Shaarawi and injured him in his lower parts. the shooting happened when Al Shaarawi was walking in Camp Two in southwestern Nusairat refugee camp. A civilian car transferred him to Shuhada Al Aqsa hospital in Dair Al Balah, and he was referred to Al Shifa hospital in Gaza city two hours later. The police have launched an investigation into this shooting.
