23 February 2018
Short Link:
At 1:30pm on Friday, 23 February 2018, Israeli forces located on the eastern borders of Khan Younis opened fire and tear-gassed tens of protesters—adults and children—joining a demonstration in Khuzaa, Abasan Al Kabeera, and Abasan Al Jadida towns in eastern Khan Younis. The demonstration was held in protest of the latest U.S. decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Protesters set tires on fire and threw stones at Israeli forces, and Israeli soldiers opened fire and launched tear-gas canisters at protesters, causing the injury of three protesters, including a child, whose wounds were assessed to be moderate, as described by doctors at European Gaza Hospital. Tens of others were affected by the tear gas and received medical care in the field. Confrontations continued for several hours.
