At 01:00 pm on Friday, 12 January 2018, Israeli occupation forces (IOF) opened fire and fired tear gas canisters at tens of Palestinian young men and children who were protesting near the eastern borders, east of Al Shuhada’a cemetery eastern Jabaliya and near the northern borders, north of Beit Lahiya. Palestinian factions were protesting against the US decision regarding Jerusalem to be the capital of Israel. 18 persons were injured in the clashes. Medical staff in the Indonesian, Al Awda, and Beit Hanoun Hospitals reported their injuries ranged from moderate to serious.
According to Al Mezan’s monitoring, 13 persons sustained gunshots, one was hit by a rubber bullet, three injured by gas canisters, and one got his ankle sprained. Clashes continued until evening hours on the same day.
