On Wednesday morning, 17 August 2016, the Court of First Instance in Gaza, headed by the judge Hassan Al Hessi, sentenced M. Kh., 26, resident of Gaza, to death by hanging, after being convicted of premeditate murder of Thoraya Rajab Al Badri, 78, adding to robbing and carrying a harmful object. In addition to that, the second defendant who cooperated in the crime, A. K., was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment. The third defendant, M. H. was sentenced to two years imprisonment on charges of possession of stolen money. The court based its verdict to the Penal Code number (74) for 1936, which is applied in Gaza.
