At approximately 10:30 am on Sunday, 12 June 2016, Mahmoud Al Zeq, Secretary of the National Work Committee of the Palestinian Liberation Organization , resident of Al Sheja’eya neighborhood in Gaza city, received a threat from unidentified person via a phone call. He ordered him to stop his political statements related to Gaza Strip issues. In his affidavit to Al Mezan, Al Zeq stated that he received a phone call and the caller didn’t identify himself and he told him that he will inform him a message within five minutes. The caller read Al Zeq statements about public issues in Gaza Strip such as the electricity cuts problem, Jakar street, taxes imposed on civilians, and detonating explosive devices in front of Fatah Movement’s leaders’ houses. Then he told Al Zeq “ we know the interest of Gaza more than you. You have to stay at your home and better not to talk about the general political issues otherwise you will hurt yourself”.
