At approximately 12:30 am on Sunday, 1 May 2016, Israeli gunboats opened fire at Palestinian fishing boats off the coast of Deir Al Balah. As a result, two fishing boats owned by Mohammed Musbah Shahada, 35, were damaged. The Israeli gunboats kept chasing and firing at Palestinian fishing boats until 8:30 am. Fishermen abandoned their work and left the area fearing for their life. No injuries were reported.
