Abu Jarad family, Beit Hanoun
At approximately 9:25pm on Friday, 18 July 2014, Israeli forces fired two tank/artillery shells at the house of the sons of Khalil Abu Jarad, which is located in Abdel Dayim Street in Ezbet Beit Hanoun, in the North Gaza district. As a result, eight residents of the house were killed. One woman and four children were also injured in the attack.
According to Al Mezan's field investigations, the family had gathered in the second floor of their four-storey house. The shells hit the third floor and penetrated the ceiling of the second floor where the family was at the time. The Abu Jarad family’s house is about 2.4 kilometres away from the Israeli controlled Erez crossing in the north of the Gaza Strip, which is where the fire is assumed to have originated.
