16-year-old Ismail Hassan Abu Jamee from Khan Younis was a religious boy who used to perform all of his daily prayers at the mosque. He was also a mature and dutiful son who used to help his father ensure that their trees were watered. He would look after their cattle at the farm. Before he was killed, he was studying for his secondary school certificate and taking extra courses in English. “He hoped to enroll in university in the Sharia and Law Department,” said his mother.
On 11 July 2014, when Ismail was in the yard, an Israeli warplane attacked the house without warning. Ismail was killed.
