Eleven-year-old Riham from Hekr Al Jame'e in Deir Al Balah in the middle of the Gaza Strip was a very active and clever child. She was responsible and dressed very well. She was said to have an innocent face. Her ambition was to be a teacher. “She used to help me around the house and take care of her siblings,” said her mother.
At about 1:30 am on 29 July 2014, the neighborhood was attacked by Israeli forces without prior warning. Riham’s family was buried beneath the rubble. A concrete block fell on Riham's head and she was seriously wounded. She died later of her wounds.
