Date of death: 23 June 2014
Nine-year-old Rawan from Al Hadaba in Deir Al Balah in the middle of the Gaza Strip was a tall girl with long hair. She was a very active and clever child. She was a tomboy and liked to play games that the boys typically play, including football with her brothers and cousins. Her brother Hamza was her best friend; they used to play together. “We can’t live in the house anymore. My children are afraid to go to the balcony,” Rawan’s aunt said.
Rawan's family evacuated their house and moved to the town of Dir Al Balah. Two Israeli warplane missiles struck the next door house. A piece of shrapnel from the second missile hit Rawan in the head. She was immediately killed.
