Mahmoud had been doing well at school. He liked sports, particularly football. He was a fan of FC Barcelona. He would perform all five prayers at the mosque every day. “I always cry. I still see him in front of me,” says his mother.
At approximately 9:00 pm on Thursday, 31 July 2014, Israeli drone fired a missile at a group of young men who were gathered east of Al Bureij Sports Club. As a result, Mahmoud, 17, and Zaher Abu Maktoma, 36, were killed. Mahmoud had been sitting in front of his home when he sustained the shrapnel wounds and was killed.
