Seventeen-year-old Shireen from the Al Sheja'eiah neighborhood in Gaza City was a social and beloved child. She was a very diligent student and her ambition was to graduate from university one day. She liked children and used to take care of her nephews. "She used to help everybody around her," said her sister-in-law.
On 20 July 2014, the Israeli random and violent shelling intensified against Shireen's neighborhood. Her family decided to evacuate the house and relocate to a safer shelter. On their way, a group of civilians was directly targeted by an Israeli shell. Many people were instantly killed including Shireen. Many others were seriously wounded.
