On Thursday 15 August 2013, Palestinian Bar Association was informed about the decision of the High Court to stop elections which was supposed to be held on Saturday 17 August 2013.
According to Al Mezan’s field investigations, the court decision was based on a complaint filed by two lawyers.
The Palestinian Bar Association regrets issuing the ruling without having its prior permit to submit the petition.
At around 11:30 am on Saturday, August 17, 2013, tens of lawyers gathered in front of the Bar Association building to protest against cancelling elections.
They held banners asking for considering the petition quickly in order to hold the elections.
