Short Link:
At approximately 10:00 am Thursday 5 July 2012, three members of the Interior Ministry staff handed the chairman of board of directors of the Life and Hope Association a decree closing both branches of the association in Jabaliya camp and the As-Saftawi area of Jabaliya.
The Interior Ministry employees checked the inventory of the association, confiscated the keys from Abed Al Jawad Zeyada, then asked the staff to leave the office and closed it.
According to Al Mezan’s field investigations, the closure was based on a decision issued by the Minister of the Interior and National Security, and was justified on the grounds that the board of directors’ legally valid powers had expired and that the association was not complying with Ministry decisions.
The board members were asked to head to the Interior Ministry’s financial department.
According to affidavits by the association’s management, the validity of the board of directors’ mandate ends in June 2013.
