At approximately 9:00 am on Monday 9 April 2012, Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) arrested Ihab Abu Al Gediyan as he was on his way to be interviewed by Israeli security forces in order to travel to the West Bank.
According to Al Mezan’s field investigations, Abu Al Gediyan was trying to travel to the West Bank to accompany two blind children from Ash-Shorouk Private School for the Blind in Beit Jala, Bethlehem Governorate, to Gaza.
Israeli security forces summoned him for an interview at Erez crossing; when he went he was detained.
At approximately 9:00 pm on the same day, the IOF called Abu Al Gediyan’s family and informed them that he had been detained.
Al Mezan’s lawyer followed up with Israeli authorities and was informed that Abu Al Gediyan had been detained at Ashkelon prison, and that his term of detention had been extended until 22 April 2012.
