At approximately 6:00 pm on Saturday 3 September 2011, medical sources at Nasser Hospital announced the death of Riyadh ‘Awad Al Masri, 47, due to several bullet wound sustained in the legs and the chest.
According to the information available to Al Mezan, at approximately 8:30 am on Saturday 3 September 2011, armed men in a jeep, and another two persons who were hiding in an agricultural field nearby, blocked the passage of a taxi near the European Gaza Hospital in the Al Manara neighborhood.
One of the armed men smashed the windshield of the taxi and opened fire on the taxi driver.
The other armed men took the driver out of the car and beat him before fleeing the scene.
People who live in the area and passersby gathered and carried the driver to the European Gaza Hospital.
The police arrived at the scene and opened an investigation into the incident.
They informed Al Mezan that they had managed to identify the perpetrators and are working on their arrest.
The incident arose from a family feud.
