The Gaza Ministry of Interior banned smoking narghile at restaurants and coffee shops in the Gaza Strip.

6pm on Friday 16 July 2010, representatives of the Gaza public intelligence apparatus and internal security members orally informed owners of the coffee shops and restaurants, including those located on the beach, that smoking narghile is banned regardless of the gender of the customers.
The decision came into effect on Saturday 17 July 2010.
Smoking narghile will be banned in both open and closed areas.
The ministry did not explain the reasons behind this decision.
