On Thursday 22 October 2009, the Gaza Government's internal security apparatus prevented Mr.
Ibrahim Ghniem, the chairman of the Palestinian national succor team, access to Erez crossing to travel.
They allowed six players to reach Erez Crossing.
The delegation was on its way out of Gaza to participate in Asia qualifier soccer matches, which are to be held in Nepal on 25 October 2009.
The internal security apparatus also held the ID card of Mr.
Ghniem and asked him to return to Gaza and to report at the internal security office in Khan Younis to receive his ID card.
The motivations behind the prevention of Ghniem have remained unclear.
Mr.
Ghniem is a member at the Palestinian Football Federation that was elected in agreement between the two Governments in Gaza and Ramallah on 28 April 2009.
The chairman of the Palestinian Football Federation, former major general Jebril Ar-Rjoub, had assigned Mr.
Ghniem the leadership of this delegation.
