In the context of the positive endeavors to provide a rapid and temporal solution to the problems resulting from the environmental disaster in the Bedouin village, Palestinian specialized parties, including the Coastal Water Service, the Common Services Council and the Water Authority, in coordination with international organizations and the IOF, have agreed to pump huge water quantities from basins in the Yellow area located close to the northern borderline and east of the Bedouin village in order to spread the water out in different directions.
This would lessen the risk of a new flood in the area.
Israeli authorities provided three immense pumps to the Palestinian authorities to pump water.
This project will take place on 2 April 2007.
According to field investigation, Palestinian authorities began to transfer basins to the area in east Jabalia on 1 April 2007 after coordinating with the IOF.
It is expectedthat the first basin will be built within two months.
It is worth noting that 370 families from the Bedouin village are accommodated in a camp built by UNRWA on sandy hills located north of the village.
Several local, Arab and international organizations have provided the victims with food and potable water on an almost daily basis.
President Mahmoud Abbas passed a presidential decision to allocate an alternative piece of land to the inhabitants where the village would be rebuilt on governmental lands that would remain in the possession of the government.
This project will be implemented following the approval of the cabinet and formation of a special committee to be in charge of the decision and to distribute lands to deserving persons during the coming months.
